Friendship isn't always a sunny side up.

I used to believe adamantly that friendship will always remain the same even if tested through time, trials, challenges and distance. I still believe it though, with just a few exceptions here and there.

I learnt that sometimes, no matter how hard we are trying to hold to one, trying hard to keep it that way, the truth is that certain friendships will never be the same again. It is not that you are not considered a friend anymore; I think it's more like we outgrew each other.

We should accept it that many things are not and will not be the same like before. The amount of time you hang out together, the amount of time you spend on the phone, the number of sms-es and even the topic that you both discussed. It will not be the same.

My friend once told me that a friendship should not be measured using this measurement criteria. The amount of time or sms-es you spend do not equate to the status of one's friendship. More often than not, it is the different ways we have acquired to express our friendship.

I think I am starting to understand that. The important thing is not to compare and to "kira" so much. Thank God for what you have and do not complain. Do your best to be a friend. Love one another. Give freely and do not expect anything in return.

Move on.
